Whether it is running between play dates or getting the oldest off to homecoming you will almost always find me taxing a kid or two or three around. I have been with my husband for 10 years and fun fact, we dated back in high school before he went off to the Marine’s. I am a crafter of all the things from t-shirts, decals, to custom tumblers. Any chance I can you will find me outdoors! Hiking, camping, floating the river… if sunshine is involved, count me in!

        – Winnie the Pooh

Who is Your Most Inspiring Role Model?

My Mom. Not only did she raise three boys, she then decided that they wanted to adopt me into the family after all the boys were already teenagers. She is so incredibly strong. She is a woman who strives to live her life in God’s image every day and even when faced with a cancer battle, she held her head high and faced the battle with grace and compassion. She is truly an amazing woman.

        What is Your Greatest Accomplishment?

By far my boys. Becoming a mom at a young age was intimidating, but above all I knew that as long as I could help raise kind humans to go out into the world, I was making a worthwhile contribution. They push me to be better every single day and I am so proud of who they are becoming.

        What is your Spirit Animal?

My spirit animal is an Eagle. Eagles can represent loyalty and devotion, freedom and independence, truth and honor, and foresight and awareness, all things that resonate with me.

If a situation seems simple, you probably don’t have enough information.

          –  Unknown

Who is your Most Inspiring Role Model?

I think it’s important to remember that, like us, our role models are only human. They are just as capable of making mistakes as we are. My role models are those in my life who I see make mistakes, but use the experience as an opportunity to learn, grow, and become a stronger, more capable person.

          What is your Greatest Accomplishment?

Finishing my bachelor’s degree. My mom homeschooled all four of her daughters and it was a dream of hers that all her children graduate college. I ended up going to work right out of highschool since it was the height of the recession and signing up for a bunch of student loans didn’t seem like a wise move at the time. I went back to school in my late twenties and earned my degree several years after my mom passed away. I’ll always be a little sad that she wasn’t there to see me graduate, but I’m hopeful that she can be proud of me wherever she might be.

          What is your Spirit Animal?

My spirit animal is a hedgehog. They might seem intimidating at first with their prickly exterior (not to be confused with a porcupine) and their crusty demeanor, but if you get to know them and they grow comfortable around you they open up and let you put their warm fuzzy stomach which is SO worth it. As an introvert, I feel like a hedgehog represents my process of meeting new people, getting to know them better, and growing comfortable around them.

We have been to Africa three times, have taken a couple of trips to Europe, and have traveled all over the United States. My two favorite places on earth are Kauai, HI, and Bandon Dunes in Oregon. They love going somewhere tropical and have been to Hawaii and Mexico a few times. They are always dreaming about the next “parents only” tropical vacation. They love living close to the CdA beach and taking their boys there every weekend over the summer. In winter, they enjoy the pool at the Kroc. I chose a wolf as my spirit animal. Wolves have a strongly determined nature. Wolves are intensely social and fiercely loyal. They will protect their family until the end. Although they run in packs and are very protective of their pack, they are also very strong and independent. They enjoy the outdoors and open spaces.

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
