Jessica Bonar – Benefits Advisor

In one brief paragraph, what are your job duties at Advanced Benefits?

A successful business invests in its employees. I help employers navigate the world of benefits to ensure that their investment is strong and well-spent.  I work with decision makers to develop a strategy for their benefits package that includes short, medium and long term goals so that we are always being proactive, as opposed to reactive, in the marketplace.  Then, I partner with the company to educate employees thoroughly regarding their benefits package so they can make informed decisions in regards to their coverage and appreciate the investment their employer is making in each of them.

My purpose statement: I must inspire people by impacting them with simple solutions to complex problems that will change their life.

List Certifications, Education, Licenses, & Related Organizations

Jessica is a licensed agent for Life and Disability/Health insurance.  She also maintains a federal  Medicare certification which is renewed annually.

List Hobbies, Interests & Family

I am married to a very loving and patient man, James, and we have two dudes, Merrick and Donovan. Our North Idaho home would not be complete without our miniature schnauzer, Sadie. She is a schnauzer, and a dog, therefore we call her “our schnaug”.

We love to enjoy each season that our beautiful patch of the world offers with hiking, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, tennis, wakeboarding, and boating. We love a good campfire in the summer, and the boys consider Dad a professional s’mores maker. (He puts the chocolate inside the mallow before roasting it!) We are lovers of documentaries and you can find us snuggled under blankets on the couch watching one any time of the year.

Who is your Most Inspiring Role Model?

“My parents.  They have been leaders, mentors, friends, supporters, disciplinarians, cheerleaders, and shoulders to cry on.  They showed me how to struggle with grace and succeed with poise.  They showed me what ‘in sickness and in health’ means.  They showed me how to be a good person.  They gave me a moral compass.  They have never given up on me.  I learn from them daily.”

“My family is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.  But it is not so much an accomplishment as it is a blessing from God.  My loving husband and my two amazing sons are the best thing in my life.  If I had nothing else, it would be okay, for they are everything to me.”

What is your Greatest Accomplishment?

“I am Momgyver!  The boys, Dad included, affectionately call me Mom-gyver. Named after the old 80’s TV show Macgyver, I have an uncanny ability to solve little problems as they come along, often with the odd collection of my purse contents. I refuse to believe that there is only one way to solve anything and consider it a challenge when someone suggests defeat.  It’s a mindset to live by and for that I am most proud. Mom-gyver to the rescue!”
